The Idea

Saving the thing we love
from extinction.

I have altered the path of my entire songwriting journey to go all in on saving the craft I love so deeply. What I am fighting to preserve is what I call the potential of getting F'd. The three F's required for pure music to exist:

F

Fear

The weight of standing in front of a room with nothing written.

F

Flaw

The human edges that no machine is built to keep.

F

Failure

A real chance it doesn't land. That is what makes it real when it does.

F'd

The Potential

If getting F'd is never a possibility in the creation, you do not have music. You have sound.

Sound vs. Music

They are not the same,
though you might not hear the difference.

Sound

is knowing the chemical composition required for the makeup of water.

Music

is knowing those things and fearing drowning.

The wilderness,
without the GPS.

A GPS gets you to your destination efficiently. Frictionless. Smart, even. But without it, your relationship to the wilderness changes in ways that stay with you forever.

The destination is the same. So why does it matter? Because only without the GPS does the potential to be F'd exist. The most sacred memories we hold closest to our hearts all had F potential. Every single one, without exception.

The Night

An intimate evening of live music.
Never the same twice.

Watch the potential of the F take a songwriter hostage in real time, trying to capture a moment for a stranger in a room.

Born

A song that didn't exist when you walked in.

Of the room

Born in front of the room, because of the room.

Gone

And it dies in the room before we leave.

It's never been about the file.

15 years of songwriting. One room. One night only, every night.
